A Colorado ski brand that is not made in Colorado
Liberty Skis asks the question on its own FAQ, in those words: "Where are Liberty skis made?" The answer is that they are designed, tested and prototyped in Avon, Colorado, and built with manufacturing partners in Europe and Asia, depending on the series.
A ski brand in a Colorado mountain town is an easy thing to assume is American. Liberty does not let you assume it. That is the difference between a company being quiet and a company being misleading, and it is worth saying out loud that Liberty is neither.
Owning the factory is a bigger claim than naming a country
Moment Skis says it owns and operates its factory in Reno, Nevada, and then adds the line that actually settles it: "Every step happens right here, and no part of our process takes place outside of our walls."
ON3P makes the same point by naming what it is not. Its Portland factory "is not operated by some OEM company", nor is ON3P "some mega-factory building our skis overseas". Gilson goes one further and names the tree, building its boards from locally sourced Pennsylvania Poplar.
The claim a keyword search would have missed
Wagner Custom Skis never writes "made in" or "built in" anywhere on its page. A search for the usual phrasings came back with nothing, and nothing is what we would have published.
What Wagner actually writes is this:
We work in our factory smack dab in the middle of Telluride's Mountain Village base area, and when we're not hand-crafting your custom skis, we're out skiing on our own.
Same claim, different words. This is the second time on this site that reading the page instead of searching it has been the difference between a maker appearing and vanishing.
