Why bicycles are their own shelf

A bike is the most componentised thing on this site. A frame can be welded in Oregon from tubing drawn elsewhere, then built up with a drivetrain, wheels and tyres that are made almost nowhere but Asia. Litespeed set this out better than we could, on its own page, and called the result complicated and messy.

Fishing and skiing look similar from a distance and we have not read them yet, so we are not going to tell you what they say.
