Where a soap is made and where its contents come from
Dr. Bronner's draws the line most carefully. It says most of its products are made within the United States, and then says plainly that it sources ingredients from different parts of the world. Two of those it names outright: the chocolate is made in Switzerland, and the virgin coconut oil is milled by a sister company in Sri Lanka.
For body care that distinction is unavoidable. Olive oil, shea, coconut and most essential oils do not come from American farms, so a soap made in Vermont is still made of things that travelled.
A recruitment page is not a product page
Plant Therapy is recorded as a manufacturer operating in the United States rather than as a maker of American bottles. Its claim comes off a private-label partner pitch, a page written to sign up other brands, and a page like that makes the strongest claim a company is willing to print.
