Where AeroPress coffee makers are made
AeroPress answers the origin question the way this directory keeps asking companies to answer it: product by product, in a list, on its own FAQ page.
Most of the range is made in the United States. One product is split down the middle between two countries, inside the box. One is made abroad, with a named component from a third country.
| Product | Origin | The maker’s own words |
|---|---|---|
| Original, Go, Clear, Clear Colors, Clear XL and Original XL coffee makers, paper filters, Carafe, Flow Control Cap, Funnel and Filter Holder | Made in USA, as claimed | Manufactured in USA: Original, Go, Clear, Clear Colors, Clear XL and Original XL coffee makers; white paper filters; natural paper filters; Carafe; Flow Control Cap – Standard; AeroPress Funnel; AeroPress Filter Holder. |
| Go Plus coffee maker | Made in USA, with a qualifier | Manufactured in USA and China: Go Plus coffee maker (brewer, filters, scoop and stirrer are manufactured in the USA; tumbler is manufactured in China). |
| AeroPress Manual Grinder | Made outside the USA | Manufactured in China and Italy: AeroPress Manual Grinder is manufactured in China, but features burrs that are manufactured in Italy. |
The split inside a single product
The Go Plus is the interesting one. Its brewer, filters, scoop and stirrer are made in the United States and its tumbler is made in China, so one purchase crosses an ocean and the company says so in a parenthesis.
No single label could describe that box. "Made in USA" would be wrong about part of it and "made in China" would be wrong about most of it, which is exactly the situation a per product answer exists for.
Naming the component, not just the country
The Manual Grinder is made in China and "features burrs that are manufactured in Italy". Burrs are the part of a grinder that does the work, so naming their origin is naming the thing a buyer would actually ask about.
That is a higher standard than the site usually sees. Most companies that disclose a foreign assembly location stop there and say nothing about what went into it.
It gives a reason as well as an answer
AeroPress also says why some of the range is made abroad, which almost nobody does. The company puts it down to cost and to the materials and assembly a given product needs.
Whether a reader finds that convincing is up to them. The point is that it can be read at all, rather than inferred from a silence.
