Chocolate cannot be American all the way down
The cacao tree does not grow in the continental United States. Any American chocolate is therefore made here from beans grown somewhere else, and the honest version of the claim says so.
Elmer Chocolate writes it into the same sentence: its products are proudly made in the U.S. using real milk and dark chocolate "made with imported cocoa beans." Nothing is hidden and nothing is overstated.
PEZ is a brand with one imported line
PEZ states that all candy distributed in the US and Canada is produced in its Orange, Connecticut factory. Further down the same page, under the ingredients for the sugar-free peppermint, sits the line "Made in Hungary."
Both are true. Reading either one alone gives the wrong impression of the other, which is why this directory records the product rather than the brand.
